NerveCalm Ingredients: The Full List & What the Evidence Says

By the PillVerdict team · Updated June 2026

NerveCalm uses a blend of 5 herbal ingredients. The marketing describes them as clearing "nerve plaques" and "repairing nerves" — language that goes well beyond the science. Here's a grounded look at each one, with an honest evidence rating. Note up front: the label doesn't disclose the dose of each ingredient, which limits how confidently anyone can judge the formula.

Corydalis Yanhusuo

Evidence: emerging

The most interesting ingredient. A traditional Chinese herb containing compounds (like DHCB) studied for pain relief. The early research is genuinely promising, though far from conclusive for nerve pain specifically.

Opuntia Phaeacantha (Prickly Pear)

Evidence: weak (for nerves)

An antioxidant cactus extract. General antioxidant value, but little direct human evidence for nerve pain.

Marshmallow Root

Evidence: weak

A soothing demulcent herb traditionally used for irritation. Pleasant and gentle, but not a nerve-acting ingredient.

California Poppy Seed

Evidence: mild calming

A traditionally mild sedative/relaxant. May help with relaxation and sleep, which can make discomfort feel more manageable — but that's calming, not nerve repair.

Althaea Officinalis

Evidence: weak

Here's an oddity: Althaea officinalis is marshmallow root — the same plant listed again under its Latin name. So the "5 ingredients" are really closer to 4.

The biggest red flag is what's missing. The ingredients with the strongest research for nerve pain — alpha-lipoic acid and B vitamins (such as benfotiamine) — aren't here at all. Tellingly, NerveCalm's own "scientific references" cite an alpha-lipoic acid study… for an ingredient the product doesn't contain.

Bottom line: NerveCalm is a calming herbal blend with one genuinely interesting ingredient (corydalis). It may help you feel more relaxed, but it isn't built around the evidence-based nerve ingredients — which is a big reason for our middling score.
